Women Rehabilitation Centre in Coimbatore: India's First Women-Exclusive Sanctuary

Have you been searching for a women rehabilitation centre in Coimbatore that truly understands what women go through? A place where your mother, wife, or daughter won’t feel judged. Where she can heal in safety. Where the staff actually get it.

You’ve found that place. Right here in Coimbatore.

Our women’s rehabilitation centre in Coimbatore isn’t just another facility. It’s India’s FIRST and ONLY women-exclusive luxury rehabilitation centre. We opened in July 2023 because we saw something missing in Indian healthcare. Women facing addiction and mental health challenges had nowhere safe to go. Nowhere designed specifically for them.

That’s not okay with us. So we changed it.

Why Women Need a Different Kind of Care

Here’s the thing most people don’t realise. Women experience addiction differently than men. Their bodies process substances differently. Their reasons for using are often different. And the shame they carry? It’s usually heavier.

According to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment’s National Survey on Extent and Pattern of Substance Use in India, approximately 57.4 lakh women in India struggle with substance use disorders.[1] But here’s what breaks our hearts—Lok Sabha records from 2022 showed that only 4 women-exclusive rehabilitation centres exist in all of India.[2] Four. For 57.4 lakh women.

We’re one of those four. And we’re the only one offering luxury, evidence-based care.

What Makes Women's Addiction Different?

Women’s bodies metabolise alcohol and drugs differently due to hormonal fluctuations and body composition. Research published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology found that women with alcohol dependency often present with higher rates of co-occurring depression and anxiety, with alpha-theta neurofeedback training showing significant reduction in both cognitive deficits and depressive symptoms.[3]

But it goes beyond biology.

Many women turn to substances after trauma. Research from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) has shown that alcohol remains the primary substance among women seeking addiction treatment, with many reporting histories of trauma prior to their addiction onset.[4]

Women face unique barriers:

At our ladies rehabilitation centre in Coimbatore, we understand all of this. We built our entire programme around it.

Our Women's Rehabilitation Centre in Coimbatore: What We Offer

A Sanctuary in Sowripalayam

Our women’s centre is located at #500/3,4,5 Kannapiran Mill Road, Sowripalayam, Coimbatore. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Western Ghats, it’s a private sanctuary designed specifically for women’s recovery.

No men. No co-ed distractions. Just women supporting women.

What you'll find here:

For Coimbatore residents, this means no travel required. Your loved one stays close to home while receiving world-class care. For families from Chennai, Bangalore, or Kerala—we’re just 45 minutes from Coimbatore Airport.

Our All-Female Clinical Team

Here’s something that matters deeply to women in recovery. Our clinical and support staff at the Sowripalayam centre are primarily female. Male clinicians are only brought in when specifically appropriate for clinical reasons—and only with patient consent.

Why does this matter? Because many women have experienced trauma at the hands of men. Because they can speak more openly about their bodies, their relationships, their fears. Because sisterhood heals in ways that mixed environments simply can’t.

Treatment Programmes for Women

Trauma-Informed Care

We recognise that trauma and addiction are deeply connected for many women. Research published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology demonstrated that trauma-focused therapies like Prolonged Exposure are highly effective for women who’ve experienced assault, producing large effect sizes for PTSD symptom reduction.[5]

Our approach includes:
Women's Issues Groups

Group therapy is powerful. But it’s even more powerful when everyone in the room truly understands your experience.

Our groups address:
Gender-Specific Treatment Protocols

Everything we do considers how women’s recovery differs. Our protocols are built on research showing that women respond better to treatment environments that address relationship patterns, shame reduction, and practical concerns like childcare and financial independence.

Our women's programmes include:

Why Coimbatore Families Choose Us

We're Right Here

This is our home. The Abhasa women’s rehabilitation centre in Coimbatore isn’t some distant facility—it’s part of your community. When you need to visit, you can. When family therapy is scheduled, you won’t need to travel far.

For families in Tamil Nadu, this proximity matters. Recovery isn’t something that happens in isolation. It happens with family involvement, weekend visits, and the knowledge that home is close by.

Evidence-Based Treatment

According to the AIIMS-NIMHANS National Survey on Extent and Pattern of Substance Use in India (2019), Tamil Nadu has an alcohol use prevalence of 14.3%—higher than many other states.[6] We don’t just understand the statistics. We treat the people behind them.

Luxury That Heals

Some people wonder why luxury matters in rehabilitation. Here’s our answer: women who’ve struggled with addiction often feel worthless. They’ve been shamed, judged, looked down upon.

Treating them with dignity—private rooms, beautiful surroundings, spa services, nutritious food—sends a message. You matter. You deserve care. You’re worth this investment.

That’s not indulgence. That’s healing.

Investment in Healing

Treatment at Abhasa ranges from Rs 2-6 lakhs per month, depending on room choice and programme intensity. This includes:

We know this is a significant investment. Many families find it’s far less than the ongoing costs of untreated addiction—financially, emotionally, and in human potential.
